204 Rosewood Lane by Debbie Macomber

Have I mentioned lately that Debbie's books are hard to put down? Well they are! 204 Rosewood Lane is the second book in the Cedar Cove series, and it just so happens to be Grace Sherman's address. We learn more about Grace and her two daughters, Kelly and Maryellen. Dan's, Grace's husband, disappearance really takes the family for a loop. I can't imagine going through that, and not knowing what happened. Another mystery pops up in the town of Cedar Cove too. A stranger shows up at the local bed and breakfast and mysteriously dies during the night. No one knows who he is or what he was doing. But I wouldn't worry too much, Roy McAfee the local PI is on the case. We also meet Zach and Rosie Cox, who are going through a messy divorce.

Again, this was a really good book. I believe I am going to enjoy the whole Cedar Cove series.

16 Lighthouse Road by Debbie Macomber

I now see why Debbie Macomber is such a popular author. Her books are simply amazing! 16 Lighthouse Road is the first in the Cedar Cove series. I met so many characters in this book. Olivia Lockhart and her family and friends and Grace Sherman and her family. I found that I could relate to just about every character in some small way. There is so much going in the town of Cedar Cove. As a judge Olivia handed down a shocking judgement by denying a petition for divorce for Cecilia and Ian Randall. This decision completely shocked everyone and at the same time impressed Jack Griffin, the new editor of the town paper. Grace Sherman's husband disappears leaving no trace! It seems like everyone life becomes challenged in one way or another. Mystery, Romance, Joy, and the unexpected can be found at Cedar Cove.

I find it very hard to not recommend one of Debbie's books to read. Debbie has such an amazing talent. The way the stories unfold make you feel like you are right there in Cedar Cove!

Susannah's Garden by Debbie Macomber

I actually just finished reading this book last night. I was a little unsure if I was going to enjoy reading Susannah's Garden when I began the first chapter. I had thought about setting it aside for another time, but I decided to read a few more chapters to give it a chance. Obviously it won, because I couldn't put the book down. If you've read the book Back on Blossom Street you will already know Susannah Nelson. In Susannah's Garden you get to know Susannah a little more personally. You learn about her background and her family. I would almost recommend reading Susannah's Garden before reading Back on Blossom Street. But that's just a personal opinion.
The story pretty much revolves around the path not taken. For most us we get to sit around and wonder about that path we didn't take, and play the "what if" game until it drives us crazy. Susannah actually gets to explore the path she didn't get to take several years ago and learns a lot about her family as well as herself. There is also a valuable lesson in the book, we can't always take things as they seem. We need to open our minds to other perspectives. Susannah finds new perspectives and starts to see the other point of view when she visits her hometown to take care of her mother.
The first part of the book is pretty straight forward and fairly interesting. Once you hit the middle of the book things really start to get very interesting and a mystery or two pop up. It becomes harder and harder to put the book down. I had several theories in mind while reading the book. The ending however, was a pretty big surprise! I highly recommend this book to everyone! Once again, Debbie Macomber has done an excellent job!

The Sally Lockhart Trilogy by Philip Pullman

If you like mystery novels then this trilogy is definitely for you! I just happened upon the Sally Lockhart Trilogy by chance at a Barnes and Noble. I thought it looked interesting, the story line sounded good, and I needed something new to read so why not. I did not realize what I was getting myself into. I was hooked from the very first chapter in the first book all the way through the third book!
In the first book, The Ruby in the Smoke, we meet a 16 year old Sally Lockhart who's world has been turned upside down by the death of her beloved father. Although the story is set in Victorian England, we find that Sally is in no way a typical young girl that you would expect to find during that era. Sally is extremely intelligent and well educated. The death of her father is the catalyst that begins the unfolding of a huge mystery that spans three novels.
Philip Pullman does an excellent job of keeping the read in suspense with every chapter. Trust me when I say you will get hooked! This trilogy is a must read for mystery buffs. I've read the trilogy two or three times already!Every time I go back, I pick up on a something new. The tell tell sign of a good mystery novel, every time you pick up the book you discover something new that you did not see the previous time.
